My heart calls out to thee
Thou hold it ever captive
In thy tender and loving embrace

We were forever meant to be
I wonder lovingly as I
Imagine, swiftly, thy adoring face

But alas, it remains she
Who holds thy bit with
Genteel courtliness and unimaginable grace

Her infatuation is meek
Compared to the love I hold dearly
Deep in my heart, the very center of that place

"Under love's heavy burden do I sink!"
Such words do mock me
And my undisguised disgrace

Oh! woe is me
That I may never again
Gaze admiringly upon thy countenance

For it is thee and thee alone
That know, truely, my intentions

This was my first poem written after coming back to New Mexico from summer break visiting my cousins (love you Zach!). Anyway, I wrote this thinking about how I was gonna give one of my friends his summer gift I got him. Then I thought about him with his girlfriend who I rather despise for other reasons altogether, and I started getting all teary-eyed. This poem is the result of those tears.

Sadly, I have to admit that I've gotten over her, as I really had no choice. I'm sorry that you "despise" her, it wasn't her fault that things turned out the way they did. Ah well, this is well-written, I'll give it that. And of course, I love you, too. :3
